The Pereiaslav National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve continues the digitization of its museum collections using professional equipment provided by the Mobile Digital Laboratory (MOCEL) of the Agency for Cultural Resilience.
Specialists from the museum digitization department have already photographed more than 600 selected artworks from the Reserve’s collection. The next phase of the project has now begun, focusing on the digitization of textile collections.
The process also involves the cultural initiative “Pereiaslav Shirt,” which aims to revive, preserve, and promote traditional embroidery techniques. As part of the initiative, the Pereiaslav Shirt Embroidery Studio operates at the Reserve, offering training in forgotten stitches and techniques and recreating traditional shirts based on museum patterns.
In 2025, the Reserve is implementing the research and educational project “Pereiaslav Shirt: Revived Tradition.” Selected elements of women’s and men’s shirts — including sleeves, inserts, hems, bibs, and collars — have been chosen from the museum collections. Based on the digitized materials, an illustrated pattern album of Pereiaslav region ornaments will be created, serving as a valuable resource for future research and authentic reproductions.
The Mobile Digital Laboratory (MOCEL) is a project of the Agency for Cultural Resilience, curated by Ihor Poshyvailo and supported by international partners including Cultural Emergency Response, the ALIPH Foundation, and the Dutch National Archives (Nationaal Archief).
