Practical Training for Cultural Heritage Rescue in Crisis

Are you concerned about protecting museum artifacts, rare library items, and archival materials damaged by war?

Do you want to learn how to act correctly in the critical first hours after shelling, destruction, or natural disasters to safeguard damaged cultural treasures when professional restorers may not be available?

If yes, we invite you to a practical workshop on August 28, 2025, in Kyiv.

Under the guidance of certified restorers and members of the National Cultural Rescue Team, you will gain hands-on experience in near-real conditions, not just theoretical knowledge.

Workshop Program Includes:

  • Preparation for rescue operations;
  • On-site situation assessment;
  • Drying, cleaning, and treating damaged items;
  • Initial inventory and documentation;
  • Packing and transferring stabilized collections.

Target Audience:

  • Museum workers, gallerists, librarians, archivists;
  • Restoration artists;
  • Cultural heritage protection specialists;
  • Cultural rescue volunteers.

Selected participants will be notified in writing by August 26, 2025, with the program and participation details. Travel expenses are reimbursed; accommodation is not.

Organizers: UNESCO Ukraine, Agency for Cultural Resilience (ACURE), National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity, National Research and Restoration Center of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine and with support from Cultural Emergency Response.

The workshop launches a rapid-response training course for cultural heritage protection within the framework of ACURE’s project “Ukraine, Emergency Triage & Training Depot” and the activities of the Black Sea Regional Hub CER.
